BIO
I was born in Washington, D.C. where museums are free, and the streets are commandeered to voice opinions.
I graduated from Bard College and studied drawing/printmaking at The Art Students League of New York.
Attracted to places with street culture, I have lived in New York City, New Orleans, Cairo, Egypt, and Southern California. My chalk pastel drawings are a collection of restaurant window displays from my old neighborhood of NYC’s Chinatown to the open meat markets of Cairo, Egypt.
When I first started, my drawings were like the Vargas Girls pin-ups of meats and sweets and now they are multi-layered street scenes. They reflect my conventional use of photography, focusing on cityscapes, and inherent use of form, as I organically draw from colour shapes.
I started curating in order to show my work while still seeking traditional venues for exhibition. I found it creative and therapeutic just to do-it-myself while inviting others to participate with me. Together, my spectacles have been unconventional, highly interactive experiments that are fun and free to the public.
